Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital must keep Ativan in those giant ketchup dispensers. There are enough seizures there to make a really good amateur rendition of the Thriller video.

BC vs. Navy

I loved this game for many reasons. I picked BC over Navy in what seemed to be a no-brainer. However, Navy immediately put up a fight and started kicking butt. The BC kicker missed an extra point early on and by the end of the game that was the difference. BC was down 2 after failing to make up for the missed point with a 2-point conversion. Less than 2 minutes remaining. They messed up their clock management (like every freakin' game this season, thanks stupid clock rules) and Navy got some crucial first downs. Then Navy gets a holding call on third down, putting them in a tight spot. Third and 13, the option pitch is goofy and falls right on the field, and BC recovers. They march down the field and set up a 37-yard field goal for the walk-on kicker who had never played football in his life before this season. His previous career-long was 36 yards.

So, in one moment, this guy can 1) set a new career record, 2) make up for the missed extra point, and 3) win the game. He kicks that sucker - it looks like a Navy dude gets his hand on it - but it sails right through the uprights. It was disgusting.

And the best part is, the guy's nickname is Sid Vicious.

Never, ever, ever, ever bet against your own team. Or, in my case, pick the other team in this ESPN bowl contest I'm trying to win. Sheesh. By rights, FSU should have been spanked all the way to the moon and back, and we run up 44 points against UCLA? The same UCLA that USC couldn't get 10 points against?

On another note, I didn't realize that the Emerald Bowl was sponsored by Emerald Nuts. That was entertaining. There was some guy in a nut outfit walking around. What was he cheering for?

I rode a bike today. It was dark. I took a call, and that was mostly cool except for a couple close calls.

I crack myself up.

So far, the 11 new records by Ryan Adams are mostly crap. "Hillbilly Joel" however is pure genius. Seriously. It's funny. "General Ulysses S. Hospital" is built on a similar theme, and mostly funny. "...Hits the Fans" is good punk, or at least listenable, with "Drunk Santa" as a pretty good Beck impersonation. Ok, anything by The Shit is good. DJ Reggie is cool. "Holla Dayz Inn" is especially noteworthy. I dunno why I'm giving my opinions. If you like his stuff, you'll listen through them, and if you don't, you're probably already somewhere else.

Yes, even this cold cynical heart is still capable of warmf during the holidays. So I'd like to take this time to wish all three of my readers a Very Merry Whatever and a Happy New Crap.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to find a copy of the first Harry Potter movie so I can run this guy's commentary beneath it. It's probably better than watching it for real.

Mrs. Freshley's "Buddy Bars", while slightly cheaper than their Little Debbie counterparts, are also noticeably shorter and contain only 3 wafers instead of 4.

So Jeffrey Tambor is in this episode of M*A*S*H. I just saw his name in the credits.

Also, Soundgarden is some seriously fun stuff to play. I like how they use their riffs. They got their verse riff, a chorus riff, sometimes some other riffs, and usually near the end Chris Cornell will sing a chorus over one of the other riffs. This might be hard to understand. Just listen to "Outshined". That last chorus is killer. (Their tunings and riffs are similar to a lot of Denison Marrs material...)

I like Soundgarden because they were vehemently anti-hair metal. I used to read this one interview over and over where Kim Thayil just makes fun of hair metal bands, calls them "hair farmers" and "butt rock". It's great.

So I was in this movie the other day. I was supposed to be an extra in a party scene, so I showed up and figured I'd be doing a lot of waiting around. The extras hung out and got acquainted, sat around, stood in the hallway for a scene for five minutes, and then sat around some more. Some people left and came back, some people just left. I sat around and read my Clash biography, but there was enough conversation (even when the director yelled for quiet) to keep me entertained.

So then they said that some of us could leave if we wanted, and the ones who stayed would have to wait around a lot more (it was about 10:30 and they said we'd be there until 1). Nobody left, we just kept sitting around. At 1:30 they told us the scene was scrapped and we were free to go. That was a bummer.

The worst part was today when I found out there was some kind of accident with the camera and the entire day's shoot was gone. My smoking cow is gone!

They're reshooting the party next Wednesday and I won't be here. Crud.

Now this kid on Andy Griffith is getting behind in school because he's listening to rock music on a little transistor radio instead of "hitting the books". And Howard is dating his mom and trying to act as a "big brother". I'd be messed up, too. [EDIT: It's actually his sister. She works at a "dance hall". Yeah.]

Copeland - Live in Sacramento 10/20/05

This freaking sucks. I found it for $6 at Tower so no big deal, but it's a real letdown. The sound is flat and boring, which is maybe the sound guy's fault, but the performance is just plain ugly. The vocalist never settles on a note but constantly slides from one to the next. The tempos are all too slow and it sounds like some songs are even done in lower keys. Or maybe it's just because the band is so out of tune. I was actually reminded of my last show recording, which I thought was bad but sounds way better than this.

Instant Live has a great idea, but maybe they should be a little more selective. Sell the concert recording on the spot, and then for retail release take the best songs from each show.

The style of free-running/movement Mollaka the Bomb-Maker uses in the Madagascar Chase near the beginning of the film is called Parkour. Sebastien Foucan, who plays Mollaka, is also one of the creators of Parkour.

Flippin' sweet. I read about this stuff once. Neat to see it in action.

(Also, not entirely true. See here.)

EON Productions is a smart company. The last few years they boxed up all the old Bond movies on DVD. They knew that Casino Royale was pretty much going to kick the crap out of all the rest.

I dig the silenced pistol. And nice job on the theme by Chris Cornell (never thought I'd say those words). Sequel setups are lame. Just let the stuff happen and ... well, I'm not going to ruin it for anyone. I just hope the series doesn't fall into the Matrix/X-Men trap.

The trailer for Spiderman 3 looks wicked, of course. Sandman! Yeah, my favorite Spidey villain. Well, Electro is actually my favorite, but Sandman works. With the striped shirt and everything.

Finally, it's Dynasty Warriors: The Movie!

Random music crap.

The Weepies sound pretty cool. (Thanks, free iTunes single of the week!)

"American Gigolo" by Weezer has an extra chorus where the bridge should be.

Dude, it goes A B A B C A B C. Where A is the verse and B is the chorus. I don't know what C is, but it sure does "bridge" B and A.

I was listening to it, then I just played the "Dope Nose" solo the other day. Not as hard as I thought it was.

I like the single version of "Keep Fishing" better than the album.

"O Girlfriend" is awesome.

Yes, I know the form and it's technically a bridge. But it sounds like another chorus.
