Is this permissible under the journalist's creed? I guess it probably happens all the time with freelance writers.

Happens all the time. Man, people get paid for that?

Local artists (as well as obscure national artists' PR people) contact me all the time with "Oh, review". I didn't know people would pay for that!??!?

But note that nowhere does it say "positive" review.
